Mozambique has to be considered as one of the world's best tropical holiday destinations with its miles of untouched, naturally beautiful coastlines.
Xai Xai (pronounced' Shai Shai') is a large town in the south of Mozambique, situated on the Limpopo River, 200 kilometres north of the capital, Maputo. Xai Xai is the capital of the Gaza Province and is a bustling town with fresh produce markets, supermarkets, hardware stores, petrol stations and banks.
English is spoken in Mozambique, but the official language is Portuguese. Portuguese and Shangaan are the languages spoken in the Gaza Province.
Praia de Xai Xai (the beach town of Xai Xai) is situated 12 kilometres along a tarred road, from the main town of Xai Xai. It is not difficult to see why Praia de Xai Xai - with all its natural beauty and exquisite beaches - is the preferred destination for many holidaymakers and Maputo residents. The coral reef that runs parallel to the shore, offers good snorkelling and protects the beach from strong waves.
Reef Resort is situated along Rua de Marginal in Praia de Xai Xai (1.8kms from the main beach area/Haley Hotel complex along a bumpy beach road). A 4x4 is not necessary to reach Reef Resort but during the rainy season, a vehicle with a high clearance is recommended because the bumps in the road fill with water and become huge puddles.
Reef Resort consists of 20 air-conditioned beach houses each with their own splash pool and equipped for self catering accommodation. There are 2-bedroom houses which accommodate up to 4 people, 3-bedroom houses which accommodate 6 people and slightly larger 3-bedroom houses that accommodate up to 8 people.
Reef Resort has its own restaurant Café Pescador on the premises which is open 7 days a week and caters for breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Reef Resort Venue caters for conferences and functions for up to 100 people.
Reef Resort’s Elementos Lapa is an outdoor meeting area which is suitable for groups of up to 30 people, it is especially lovely in the evenings around a bonfire.
